Scare Away Cancer is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to help families who need support as they fight cancer. The Scare Away Cancer Haunted Halloween fundraiser is coming up on October 27, 2018, at Anthony's Steakhouse in Omaha.
Drink beer, fight cancer. We've been doing it for five years now and Boo Brew 5 promises to be the biggest and best Boo Brew yet!
Join us on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Infusion Brewing Company Tap Room located at 6217 South 118th Street. We are partnering with Infusion Brewing Company for the second straight year for our summer fundraiser where you can choose between four locally brewed craft beers from Infusion Brewing Company. Best of all -- you will be drinking right where the beer was made!
It costs just $10 to get in and that includes your first drink and a souvenir cup. Refills are only five bucks and all the proceeds go to Scare Away Cancer. You can sit inside at the tap room bar or join us outside at our covered beer garden. Music, games, prizes, even a food truck will be on hand just in case you get hungry.
Scare Away Cancer started in 2011 and our mission is quite simple. We give money to patients and families who are fighting cancer to help make ends meet. Also, we support programs which provide charitable care to patients and help improve the lives of people battling cancer.
We have raised close to $700,000 in seven years; we are an all-volunteer organization which means the money you donate goes directly to patients.
You can donate to Scare Away Cancer on our website and make sure to join us for the biggest and best Halloween party on October 27th at Anthony's Steakhouse.

Scare Away Cancer's Boo Brew 4 at Infusion Brewing Company was the biggest one yet! This is regarding attendance and money raised. 247 people attended the July 13th event which raised $5,200 for Scare Away Cancer. 100% of the money raised goes directly to cancer patients, families, and programs.
"I am amazed at how this event has grown," said Paula Ebert from Scare Away Cancer. "People believe in our mission and want to help any way they can."
This year's event was the first at Infusion Brewing and Tap Room. Four locally brewed craft beers by Infusion Brewing provided everyone with plenty of hops.
"Infusion Brewing hit it out of the park," added Scare Away Cancer's Tony Fucinaro. "The outside beer garden tent was a huge success and the weather was very cooperative."
Boo Brew is an event designed to be laid back and raise awareness of Scare Away Cancer, its mission, and where the money raised goes to throughout the year.

"Every year this event gets bigger and better. It's no secret that we like to have fun," said Tony Fucinaro. "We have a new venue and a new local brewery which means new beer to try." The Infusion Brewing Taproom is located at 6271 S. 118 Street in Omaha and is famous for its Vanilla Bean Blonde. Boo Brew will feature four different craft beers to drink. Ten dollars will get you a collector’s pint glass and your first draft with refills at just five bucks. The Chicago Dawg House will have its food truck on location to serve bratwurst, hotdogs, hamburgers, and more.
"Scare Away Cancer is helping more patients and families than ever before," added Fucinaro. "This event is an excellent way to introduce our mission to people and start the countdown to our big party in October." Helping out at Boo Brew 4 are employees from Lincoln Financial Group. Continuing on its promise to help as many cancer patients as possible, Scare Away Cancer donates $12,000 for the use of charitable care at the Inner Beauty Salon inside the Estabrook Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital.
"Through your generous gifts, we can help women let the true beauty of who they are shine through by providing financial assistance with a variety of things to help ease the painful side effects of cancer treatments," said Lori Fuchs of the Inner Beauty Salon.
Over the past three years, almost 250 patients received charitable care at the Inner Beauty Salon. The service provides the following to cancer patients:
· Wigs and supplies
· Hats and soft caps
· Post-mastectomy camisoles and bras
· Skincare and supplies
· Emu oil to help with radiation treatment
The Inner Beauty salon increased its number of consultations 8% in 2016 over 2015 serving patients from all over the Omaha area, not just those receiving treatment at Methodist.
"The dedicated volunteers at Scare Away Cancer go above and beyond to host a fun Halloween celebration and do so to help cancer survivors in genuine need. One hundred percent of this gift will support Inner Beauty patients who cannot afford wigs, mastectomy bras, or other products," said RyAnne Hastings Elsesser from the Methodist Hospital Foundation.
Scare Away Cancer has long been a supporter of Inner Beauty, raising $36,000 to assist in the construction of the new salon that was completed in 2013. Since then, additional staff as been added as the number of consultations increased, meaning a demand for charitable care for those who cannot afford the service.
"Lori and her team do fantastic work," said Paula Ebert from Scare Away Cancer. "They are passionate, empathetic, and committed to being a beacon of light for patients who are fighting cancer."
Scare Away Cancer gives assistance to cancer patients and their families for basic needs including medical bills, car repairs, food, rent, and mortgage payments. If you know a patient or family that needs help, please fill out our questionnaire to start the process.
